NC Foreclosures Up 41.5% from 2009
Foreclosures skyrocketed in North Carolina in 2010, up 41.5% from the prior year. Though this is a huge increase, North Carolina is still in the bottom half of states in foreclosure rate with one in every 105 households facing foreclosure. South Carolina was in the top half of the nation with one in 62 homes facing foreclosure, making it the 16th state with the highest foreclosure rates.
Mecklenburg and Union Counties in North Carolina had the highest foreclosure rates in the state with one in 34 housing units in foreclosure. Nationwide, the average is one home in every 45 homes being foreclosed on.
