Property Tax Values May Increase in Your Charlotte North Carolina Neighborhood

Properties are being reassessed for tax purposes for the first time since 2003.  Though properties have historically increased over time, there are some neighborhoods that have been hit hard by foreclosures or short sales; and those Charlotte neighborhoods have actually shown a decline in property value since 2003.  On the other hand, there are some neighborhoods, particularly those nearest to Uptown Charlotte where property values are still showing a significant increase, even after a drop in prices over the last couple of years.  The Charlotte neighborhoods of Wilmore, Wesley Heights, Dilworth, Scaleybark, Starmount, Beverly Woods, Mountainbrook, and Olde Providence are some of the neighborhoods with the largest property value increases over that time frame.

Buying or Selling a Home In Charlotte? New Low for Charlotte Home Prices

According to a recent article in the Charlotte Business Journal, Charlotte home prices have dropped to their lowest levels since 2006 and 2007.  This comes from the recent publication of The Standard & Poor’s / Case-Shiller Home Price Index which measures home prices in 20 major metro areas with Charlotte being one of those cities.  Charlotte home values declined by 4.2% for the year ending October 31.  See below for the entire article…
