Time to Buy a Home in Charlotte NC According to Chief Economist

According to chief economist of the National Association of Realtors, Lawrence Yun, both interest rates and home prices are likely to rise in 2012.  If this is the case, then now is the time to buy a home in Charlotte NC in order to avoid both higher prices and higher interest rates that may come about next year.  Yun spoke to hundreds of Realtors in the Charlotte NC Region last week at an event hosted by the Charlotte Regional Realtor Association.  In his discussion, he mentioned that distressed sales, which consist of foreclosures and short sales, now make up about 30% to 40% of all transactions and all-cash deals are common.

Yun spoke positively about the future of the economy stating that he expects North Carolina to do well over the long term when it comes to jobs.  North Carolina has also not been as volatile when it comes to housing compared with other areas of the country.
