As you see, it’s an interesting situation… overall the market is very soft in comparison to the last few years. We’re almost at 1/3rd of the number of homes being sold on a monthly basis in comparison to 2006. However, when you look at the number of homes being sold in comparison to the number of homes available for sale (the monthly inventory), we’re actually not at a bad level. This means that you actually have a better chance to sell your home now than you did a few years ago. That being said, the monthly inventory trend is increasing as the number of homes being sold continues to decline each month.
Mortgage rates are extremely favorable right now, and prices have dropped very low. If you are thinking of buying a home, now looks like a good time to do so, as you just never know how long these rates will last and when a turnaround will begin. Though things continue to look bad for the real estate industry, take a look at your individual situation and determine if now is actually a good time for you to be in the market.
