General Mills Heading to NC Research Campus
The headline caught my attention as I used to work for General Mills way back in the day. After graduating from Notre Dame with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, I immediately started my career in General Mills’ Manufacturing Management Program in their cereal and snack plant in West Chicago, IL. I later was promoted to headquarters in Minneapolis, MN, then finally to their high technology plant in Covington, GA. During my career with them, I learned a lot about food processing and found it very interesting to see how much science, technology, and research is behind the manufacturing of various foods.
I’m happy to hear that General Mills is establishing a lab right here in the Charlotte Region at the NC Research Campus in Kannapolis….
The article doesn’t mention how many jobs it will bring to the area, but it’s good to hear that strong, established companies like General Mills have decided to invest in the area.
